Relative Ease
Strength from my leg, the feel of mornings stress
From physical attempts to reach forms end
Strongest when leg feels heavy and swollen
Morning ride or run, the best time I spend

Riding together we move faster with relative ease
Gibber-jab with friends the pain passes easy
The miles role past, mile marker 100
Physical limit pushed, past perceived feasibility

Rolling then to work whether enjoyed or disliked
After struggling to hold wheel, 2 hours you pay
The benefits of hitting the dirt or a bike
Perception is fresh when beginning rest of day

Less to hate and more to like, activity proves
The body and the mind are equal governor of you

Desert Rainwater
Falling from cloud is life giving water
Beautiful as it drops, sheets of wet
Makes chilled your skin for a time
A life-giving gift from sky in kind

It cools desert floor, annoys snake and beetle
Moving the ground as gravity pulls
Summer rain falls heavy and quick
More water is absorbed, plant root will stick

Assists in holding ground from erosion
Instead of wind and rain causing damage
A Mesquite root digs into material
Root slows change from water’s arterial

Plant root wages a consistent fight
The plant improves with each defense it wages
Fortifies the residence for lizard and bug
Keeps them from chore of new home to be dug

Water for the desert, infrequent and heavy
Both mountain and creature see hindrance and gain
Land changes as water destroys and dissects
Not dry Mesquite plant, old life it resurrects

The Importance of Being Earnestly Loved

Increasing desire for more strength in future days
Physically punishing self in sport we play
More time goes by showing improved ability
Rewarded with strength and bettered stability

Less strain in trail walking when body is to run it
More ease in stair climbing when pedaling to a summit
Friends are too active, they bring focus and modesty
Surrounded by athletes, type A is my normalcy

Concern for health pays dividends unfathomable
Growing old or chasing children around a table
When family is begun decisions are made for future
Where to live, decision making, prepare to nurture

Parents sacrifice to prepare for their family the best
To raise them, well educated, creative, athletic no less
Their life now devoted to develop a young person
The job is difficult and length, no time for risk aversion

Strength of father, begets strength of his son
He teaches “life can be difficult but won”
Breadwinning and caring for wife the boy sees
He imitates the father, but not limited to these

Mother and her desire to prepare child for worse
She is rewarded when sees her boy or girl well versed
Mom a better teacher, learnt from the experience pallete
Showing love to family, friend and those less fortunate

Both husband and wife have combined to produce child
Their best traits are often printed, lesser traits filed
The boy has become athlete, confident beyond reason
The girl is now, genius, philosopher, mind well seasoned

Happiness is easy when parents know what’s important
To a child, the attention from mom and dad this moment
The simple things best, morning breakfast cooked by pop
Together their family, naïve young they see no stop

Life with dad and mom at home, their education brief, intense
They learn what they can before relying on own sense
Soon mom and dad will be grandmother and grandfather
And hope they did well, and not seen their offspring falter

Their own image is passed down the line steadily
Young will grow old, the cycle seen repeatedly
Many youths will grow strong, with love and much smarts
When both mom and dad are there, it is the best of starts

Dwarfed and cornered a nation defending
Offensive maneuver, North and South sending
Few other people will fight more resolute
Patience they showed, terror they now refute

Back to people, anger and death their tone
Electing Hamas to lead them forward

Now their plan is diplomacy with digging teeth

Diplomacy against terror, is talking about talk
No more chances, now Jews walk the walk
It appears there is little the radicals understand
Except real consequences, military’s heavy hand

The world has agreed, the Jews have their right
To defend themself, now an 8 day fight
It may continue for weeks, until terror is rid
When Israel will sleep with no missile overhead

Israel is fighting with one hand behind their back
If Iran begins to meddle, it’s audios jack
Stopping a larger war it is not too late
Ahmadinejad is quiet, Tehran’s leveling will abate

Which do we want, Tehran as terrorist or free
The university students have marched and see
Tehran would have a chance at liberation and votes
We would read more speeches of Natan Sharansky quotes

They want Hamas and Hezbollah to see
This is what happens if we are not let be
Military might and diplomatic discussion
Wrapped up tight in bomb shell explosion

Israel sees all enemies as no different
Then hesitate not to unleash deterrent
Provoked into position, action was taken
Hezbollah wants to fight and gravely mistaken

The choice is theirs to release soldiers unmolested
Decimation they see, annihilation is then wretched
Their anticipation of Israel’s weakness mistook
Hezbollah will know peace, after rewriting their playbook

Time is Your Friend

Patience finding love seems rough to begin
Impatience is accepted, yet leads to no win
Respect for the person speaks volumes to them
I desire to be a member, of a few good men

What time is enough, too little or much
Ask of friends opine, encouraging words touch
Lending their thought, promoting a pursuit
Many with spouse, and happy cannot dispute

Men ask “for what am I waiting”
Women may adore, greater time for dating
Time my best friend, I think ladies are right
Taking time and then happiness stays in sight

Protecting your heart from a future brake
Past experience show how hearts can ache
Defending feelings and still showing you care
The desire is to kiss her, speak, let truth lay bare

Six weeks of seeing the other a start
A few more reasonable before showing my heart
The rest of my life to find love with a friend
Time will build bonds and problem will see mend

The more time accrued of building this bond
Prior to telling when she must respond
I care for her much, but do not claim to love yet
Reasonable as we both have love misspent

Past relations have taught both to see
Joy comes with a partner if they set you free
From worry of feelings, intensions and worry
